Ted Targett releases his first project through Noble People, ‘Collision/Divide’. Here, his pieces aim to redefine the boundaries between the real and unreal. Contrasting organized shapes with mixed textures, his use of everyday materials goes far in skewing perceptions of familiarity. Through freeing the centrality of the composition, he prevails with balance and effect throughout his canvases.
Sketch-like doodles, acrylic appliqués, lines of oil and spray-paint oscillate to form coherent, rhythmic structures. His work is invigorated by serendipity. Continuously painting over former pieces, he deconstructs intentions of the past to mould the future. This, in turn, crafts his illusion of a boundless space – evoking new realities for us all.
Exhibited in: Noble People Vol. 1, Noble People Vol. 1.5, and India Dickinson’s ‘Fly In The Ointment’
